Growing up, I was more of a vanilla cake lover than a chocolate fan simply because all the store bought chocolate cakes I tasted had a lot of cocoa which made the cakes taste bitter but now that I know how to bake chocolate cake has become my favorite.

The first time I baked a chocolate cake I was super amazed with the results, the truth is I was expecting the cake to taste the same way store bought chocolate cakes taste.

Cake Ingredients

Flour: All-purpose flourDo not use cake flour for this particular cake recipe otherwise you'll not have the same results.

Milk:

Castor Sugar: I love using castor sugar in my cake recipes because it gives the cake a lighter texture and it has the ability to dissolve fast.

Cocoa Powder: I used Nestles cocoa powder

Baking powder & Baking Soda: Use both baking powder and baking soda for lift.

Oil: Do not use butter in the cake.Cocoa powder makes the cake dry, so you need to use oil for the moisture.

Coffee: Use warm coffee to help break the cocoa powder lumps.

Eggs: Use 2 room temperature eggs.

Vanilla Essence: Vanilla essence adds flavor to the cake.

Salt: Just a pinch of salt will do.
